Powell Gardens welcomes Painted Garden (April 29-May 31). Celebrate the joy and color spreading across the Gardens with inventive botanical displays, spring blooms, and works of art. Rooted in Kansas City’s art community and presented in partnership with Rachel Hayes and Summit Art, Powell Gardens invites you to image the garden as a gallery this spring. Featured artist, Rachel Hayes, will display her work "Kindred Spirits" in the glass-domed Conservatory. Inspired by traditions of quilt making, sculpture, painting, Minimalism, and Land Art, Hayes designed an installation that embraces light and evokes the opulence of nature and the iconic Midwestern sunset. Join us May through September from 8 a.m.-noon for the Warrensburg Farmers’ Market Season around the Johnson County Courthouse Square. There will have a variety of LOCAL homegrown vegetables, fruits, flowers, & food plants for sale. Pasture-raised meats, eggs, baked sweets & loaves of bread, and honey are also for sale at the market. The Farmers’ Market also has several Artisan Vendors who sell homemade soaps, crafts, cutting boards, stitch work, and jewelry. We often invite local musicians to come to liven up Saturday morning markets with their talents.
