Good Times in the ‘Burg
A visit full of golf, hiking, fishing, dining, and just relaxing awaits you in Warrensburg. Enjoy the outdoors at our nearby parks, which offer popular trails for serious hiking or just a casual stroll through nature, including the Pertle Springs Trail — a popular trail for running and hiking that has been enjoyed since 1886 — Powell Gardens, and Knob Noster State Park. Admire six historically intact Victorian homes located a few blocks southeast of Downtown Warrensburg in the Grover Street district — this part of town boasts Victorian, Italianate, and gingerbread styles all within walking distance of each other. Wander through our history at the Johnson County Museum, displaying a wide array of local and area historical information. And play a few rounds at Keth Memorial Golf Course-Mules National, a U.S. Golf Association Regulation Course. Discover the variety of good times waiting for you in the Warrensburg area.

Central Missouri Speedway Website
Central Missouri Speedway is a high banked 3/8-mile (on the outside) Clay Oval track located 3.5 miles north of Warrensburg, right off of Highway 13. Weekly racing takes place on Saturday nights from April to September. CMS hosts special events racing during the summer holiday weekends: Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day. There are two general admission grandstand areas, one on the front side of the speedway where the flagman and announcer’s tower are located and the other on the pit side of the speedway, where drivers check in and stage from their pit stalls. A full concession stand is available as well as restrooms. The front-side grandstand features grandstand seating running the entire length of the front straightaway from turn four to turn one. There is plenty of parking on either side of the speedway.
KNOB NOSTER STATE PARK
Knob Noster State Park, located at 873 SE 10, Knob Noster is part of the Missouri State Park system. The park features more than 3,000 acres of tranquil open oak woodland with a few patches of prairie along Clearfork Creek. Eight trails, two lakes, several playgrounds and picnic shelters and more make this a must visit location while in the area! The park offers year-round nature interpretive programs and ecological stewardship activities.

A not-for-profit nationally recognized botanical garden located just east of Kansas City, Missouri, only 20 minutes west of Warrensburg. The gardens is set on 970 acres offering breathtaking display gardens, interesting architecture, a nature trail and a year-round calendar of special events and classes for the entire family. Powell Gardens is known for its garden displays incorporating native plantings and the Heartland Harvest Garden, the nation’s largest edible landscape. The gardens can be rented for weddings, receptions, ceremonies and other private events.
UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL MISSOURI
While visiting the University of Central Missouri campus in Warrensburg, Missouri will find a blend of classic and modern buildings, explore the James C. Kirkpatrick Library, or enjoy art exhibitions at the UCM Gallery of Art & Design. Sports fans might catch a game at Audrey J. Walton Stadium or the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center, while those interested in local culture can check out performances by the UCM Theatre and Dance program or visit the Arthur F. McClure II Archives and University Museum for history and artifacts. The Elliott Student Union buzzes with activity, offering eateries,and even a bowling center for fun. The campus is also just a short walk from downtown Warrensburg, where restaurants, shops, and events add to the visitor experience.

WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE
At Whiteman Air Force Base near Knob Noster, Missouri will find a unique blend of military history, aviation, and periodic public events on this active U.S. Air Force installation. Whiteman is best known as the home of the 509th Bomb Wing, which operates the world’s fleet of B-2 Spirit stealth bombers, and visitors interested in aviation and military missions can sometimes see aircraft on static display or flying overhead. The base hosts monthly public tours (March–October) that include mission briefings, views of aircraft like the B-2 and A-10, and visits to the Cold War Oscar-01 missile launch control facility museum deep underground, giving insight into missile history and operations. It also holds the “Wings Over Whiteman” air show, a free, family-friendly event with aerial demonstrations and static aircraft displays. To visit the base outside of special events or tours, civilians must obtain visitor passes at the base Visitor Center and follow security requirements.
